Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Programme No of fellow: 20 posts Eligibility Criteria: Freshers (Law Graduate) / Freshers enrolled as an advocate with a State Bar Council. (0 – 2 years of experience) Able to commit to the full Six-months tenure, including in-person intensive blocks at NLUJA, Assam. Preference will be given to young and early-career lawyers who have recently completed their legal education. 2. Lawyer Fellowship Programme (LFP) No of posts: 6 posts Eligibility Criteria: Enrolled as an advocate with a State Bar Council. 2 to 5 years of continuous practice (minimum 2, maximum 5) as on the last date for applications. Currently practising in Assam. Proven engagement in trial / lower-court litigation, legal aid, or rights-based / community work. Potential to independently manage legal-aid cases and to contribute to systemic legal reform. Capacity and willingness to mentor junior lawyers. Able to commit to the full one-year tenure, including in-person intensive blocks at NLUJA, Assam, and placement in a designated district. Preference will be given to applicants practising in trial and lower courts and those with a demonstrated commitment to public-interest law and community engagement.

NLUJA Recruitment 2026

The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam has announced two notifications for 26 fellowships under the Lawyer Fellowship Programme (LFP) and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Programme, in collaboration with the Azim Premji Foundation.

Vacancy Details

The vacancies are divided into two categories: 20 posts for the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Programme and 6 posts for the Lawyer Fellowship Programme (LFP).

Eligibility Criteria

For the CLE Programme, candidates must be fresh law graduates or enrolled advocates with 0-2 years of experience. For the LFP, candidates should have 2 to 5 years of continuous practice as an advocate and must be currently practicing in Assam.

Selection Process

Candidates must submit their applications via email, including a writing sample and a statement of purpose. Shortlisting will be based on prior commitment to legal aid and advocacy, followed by a two-stage interview process.
